Oklahoma is situated in the middle of areas of opposing temperature and winds. That is why the weather here can be sporadic – drastically changing from hot and humid mornings to cold and dry evenings.
This local weather report from news9.com tells a typical summer day for Oklahomans:
Another hot, windy and steamy afternoon across Oklahoma with south winds 20-30mph under hazy sunshine. Highs will be in the middle to upper 90s with the heat index approaching 105° in some spots.
A cold front will be slowly moving south out of Kansas and could spark off a t-storm northwest of Woodward by evening. These storm chances will go up through the evening and some of the t-storms could be severe with damaging winds and large hail.
The showers and t-storms will likely stay confined to mainly the north-western parts of the state through the evening hours.
After midnight the storms will try to slide south into western Oklahoma into the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro areas overnight.
